Youth and AI

Jun 14, 2026

This is the kind of research that helps shape the way forward in bespoke and substantive ways.

If you haven't yet had a chance to dive into The Rithm Project's study on Youth, AI, and the Relationships That Shape Them... I think it's worthy of your time.

After reading, I needed to sit with it for a bit. And here's what keeps rising to the surface for me... 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝗿𝗶𝗺𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘁𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗳𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗿 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗵 𝗶𝘀 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗾𝘂𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝗿𝗲𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽𝘀, 𝗶𝘁'𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗾𝘂𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝗿𝗲𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽𝘀.

Don't let the simplicity of that statement deter you from ingesting it. This is the crux of the work we all have ahead of us. Human connection is not just about 'more people, more social engagement, more interaction'. The true protective factor is cultivating relationships in which there is a mutual sense of being seen, heard, known, and understood.

So, how do we instill and foster the skills in which people can both give and receive inside that level of relational quality? 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘢𝘯𝘴𝘸𝘦𝘳 𝘪𝘴 𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘸𝘢𝘺 𝘧𝘰𝘳𝘸𝘢𝘳𝘥.

Thank you Michelle Culver, Alison Lee, Ph.D, and the Rithm Project team for the much-needed work you're doing in this space.
